Rolex has announced the 2023-2024 program for the Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative to pair the world’s famous artists with emerging talents from around the world.
Founded in 2002, the Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative aims to pass on the world’s artistic heritage by pairing young artists with established ones and then funding them for two years for their one-to-one collaborative work.
The 2023-2024 program will feature five of the world’s artists who will mentor emerging talents, including El Anatsui in visual arts, Bernardine Evaristo in literature, Jia Zhang-Ke in film, Anne Lacaton in architecture, and Dianne Reeves in music.
One of the emerging talents selected for Rolex’s Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative is the Lebanese-Armenian architect Arine Aprahamian, who was picked by the French architect Anne Lacaton.
The Lebanese-Armenian designer and researcher have a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the American University of Beirut (AUB).
In addition to her innovative and sustainable vision for the future, Arine has co-founded the architecture and design studio MÜLLER APRAHAMIAN in 2018.
With work in Beirut, London, and Yerevan, the studio has been working on innovative projects with notable designers.
In 2019, she was also awarded the Fulbright scholarship and a Master’s degree in architecture from UC Berkeley.
