We all want to be healthy and we’ve all heard about the importance of balanced eating, stretching, work-outs etc. In this article, we want to take it a step further and look at what healthy people do every day and how they stay so fit.
We want to give you some ideas from people who consider themselves healthy.
1. They surround themselves with other healthy people.
Healthy people tend to surround themselves with people that have similar lifestyles and goals. If you want to change something in your life, look for people who already became who you want to be and listen to their advice.
2. They don’t believe in dieting.
Diets are temporary solutions and healthy people know this. It can do the job in the short-term, but you cannot stick with any strict diet for a long period of time. Instead, think of what sort of food you often eat that is bad for you, and find a healthier replacement for it. Think about brown rice instead of jasmine rice, of roasted pumpkin and sweet potato instead of fries. And if they really feel like a slice of pizza or a slice of chocolate cake, they just have it! But in moderation, of course. And because most of the time they continue with their healthy eating habits, they don’t feel guilty about it.
3. They have intimate relationships.
A happy intimate life definitely has many benefits to your health, physically, mentally and spiritually. No matter how often you exercise and how many servings of veggies you have every day, if your personal life is no good, you will never feel healthy and happy.
4. They move.
Yes, healthy people always make sure that they are active for at least 30 minutes a day and they actually like exercising. The only way to like exercising is to do what you enjoy doing. If you don’t like running — don’t run. If a gym workout doesn’t appeal to you, don’t go to the gym. Find what you like! Whether it’s yoga, Zumba or rock climbing, there’s definitely something out there for you!
5. They pause and get outside.
Some researchers believe that going outdoors can save our generation from many stress-related issues. Try taking a pause in your crazy, busy life and stop to smell the roses! Being outdoors can also help you to get a good night’s sleep which is essential to your health as we mentioned earlier.
6. They go offline.
For most of us, social media has become a big part of our daily routine, and if you’re reading this article you are definitely a member of this club! Logging onto the Internet is how we find out about news, learn something new and chat with people. But social media should not replace face-to-face socializing. Call your friends from college, meet your family for coffee, or talk to that couple next door.
7. They get the most out of their sleep.
Healthy people know that getting enough sleep is essential for their physical and mental health. For some people, it’s eight hours, while some only need six. Learn how to listen to your body. It is also critical how you sleep. Research says that sleeping with too much light can disturb the quality of your sleep. So if you like to fall asleep in front of the TV, it might be not the best habit. Other studies show that we get better sleep in a cooler environment. When we sleep, our body temperature decreases, and the cooler our bodies are, the better sleep we get.
Be sure you don’t ignore the need for mid-day naps if you need them. Again, just listen to what your body is telling you!
8. They learn something new.
Remember when you were a child, how excited you would get when you’d learn something new every day? At that time, nothing seemed impossible. Find that child inside of you -it’s still there — and unleash your dreams. These days, we’re lucky to have unlimited resources to learn new things, so turn that TV off and do it! Maybe you want to find out how to cook the perfect steak. Or maybe you want to learn another language. Or maybe you’ve always wanted to become a pilot. Today is always the perfect time.
9. They plan.
They always have plans. They structure their daily routine and because of that, they always have time to get everything done. They know what they want to achieve, plan their meals ahead, write exercise programs and stick with them without making up excuses. But they always remember to include breaks into these plans.
10. They make health a priority.
This is perhaps the most important habit that healthy people have. No matter what they do, they make healthier choices and participate in regular medical check-ups to monitor their health. They realize that health is a gift and that they should never take it for granted.
