The Maldives might be home to the world’s dreamiest overwater villas but this year the islands are going one better by opening the first-ever five-star undersea villa, complete with panoramic views of the underwater world.
Built for travellers to fully immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the Indian Ocean, Conrad Maldives Rangali Island’s Muraka, which means ‘coral’ in local Maldivian language Dhivehi, will offer a unique view of one of the planet’s most breathtaking marine environments when it opens in November 2018.
Muraka has been designed to blend into its natural setting, with vibrant colours and diverse marine life all around.
The residence, which will sleep up to nine people, is a two-level villa featuring a space above sea level and an undersea suite for sleeping under the ocean’s surface. The undersea suite boasts a king-size bedroom, living area, bathroom and spiral staircase that leads to an upper level living room.
Its undersea bedroom floor level sits five metres below sea level and will provide incredible, uninterrupted views of the Maldives’ coral and marine life.
Muraka’s upper level has a twin-size bedroom, bathroom, powder room, gym and even butler’s quarters, as well as a living room, kitchen, bar and dining room, with a deck that faces the direction of the sunset.
Those checking into the impressive villa will also be able to enjoy a relaxation deck facing the direction of sunrise, an infinity pool and king-size bedroom and bathroom with an ocean-facing bathtub.
Prices for the luxury residence haven’t been released, but we imagine it might be a little out of our price range…
