Ever find that certain things just make your thinning hair look worse?

There are many factors that can cause thinning hair and while it can be upsetting, there’s a lot of helpful advice around what you can do to make your locks look their best.

One key thing to be mindful of the type of products you’re putting into your hair – particularly any that create a wet-look finish.

Wet-look hair is a major trend, with many taking heed of celebrities on the red carpet, who have their hair styled into wet waves or slicked back into up-dos.

Meghan Stevens, Stylist at Jamie Stevens Hair, told Good Housekeeping: ‘Avoid any wet-look products, such as mousse or gel, as this makes the hair separate and look sparse and thing.’

Additionally, another product that can affect the look of your hair is hairspray. However, this can be counteracted if you apply hairspray to your locks properly.

Craig Taylor, Creative Director at Hari’s Salons in London explains, ‘Always spray your hairspray around 10 to 12 inches from the head.

‘This will stop the hair being made wet by the spray, and avoid hair clumping together, exposing patches of scalp.’
