I was once on vacation in farm country, and went out to eat breakfast. I ordered eggs sunny side up, and when it was served I was startled to see yolks that were orange, rather than yellow, in color. I was actually hesitant to eat the eggs as they looked so different than what I was used to.

Many people do not know the difference between a healthy, all-natural egg and an unhealthy one. They also do not know how important it is to eat healthy eggs that come from a farm chicken and eggs that come from factory chickens. In the picture above, there 3 types of egg yolks displayed. Number 1 is a very dark orange yolk, number 2 is a yellow yolk, and number 3 is a light orange yolk. Which one do you think comes from a healthy chicken?

1.) Egg With Dark Orange Yolk

If you guessed that the dark orange yolk comes from the healthiest egg, then you guessed right. The dark orange yolk in the picture comes from a chicken farm, where chickens get all the daylight and their natural terrain, instead of being kept in big dark rooms with no windows where sunlight is not present. Moreover, apart from being fed grains, these chickens also eat grass insects such as grasshoppers, crickets, spiders and ticks, which is one of the main reasons why their yolks are more rich in nutrition.

2.) Egg With Yellow Yolk

This egg has been bought from a big supermarket. These are eggs who come from factory chickens. Chickens raised in big factories live in nightmare conditions. There is no sunlight, there is no enough space, there is lots and lots of filth and they are only fed grains. Also, these chickens have been hatched from incubators, which is not an all natural process.

3.) Egg With Light Orange Yolk

The egg with the light orange yolk has been brought from the local groceries. These chickens usually come from large chicken farms, whose conditions are not as terrible as the ones in the big factories but are still not suitable for chickens. The basic rule is that the more chickens a farm produces, the lower their quality is. The main difference why this yolk is not as healthy as number 1 is because these chickens are not fed any protein. Their diet usually consists of only grains.

Not only are eggs that come from local farms much fresher, but the conditions under which the chickens are raised, are far better. These chickens are much healthier and the color of the yolks of their eggs signify this. If you’ve never tasted them, it’s well worth going out of your way to do so.
