Qatari tourist Mohammed Ibrahim Malki and his lady friend Aisha Udomwatananon donned masks to rob a Thai gold shop. Janyong Nopparat, the store owner, was hit over the head with a metal bar and repeatedly punched in front of his horrified wife. The thieving couple fled in a car that was rented from a tourist resort miles from the gold shop. They were later found and arrested. Janyong and his wife were traumatized and injured, but they did get the $35,000 worth of gold returned.
