We’re not sure whether Mel B planned to disclose that she has been invited to the royal wedding live on TV, but we could’t be more thrilled she let slip on the exciting news.
The former Spice Girl was appearing on US chat show The Real when host Loni Love casually asked whether she knew anyone who would be attending Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s upcoming nuptials, being a Brit and all.
After nodding her head to signal an enthusiastic ‘yes’, Mel B quietly admitted: ‘I am going.’
She quickly admonished herself by adding: ‘I’m not sure if I should have said that, live on camera!’
When quizzed on the invitation, the singer revealed: ‘Us five Spice Girls did [get an invite]….’ before reprimanding herself again, asking: ‘Why am I so honest?!’
Mel B held back on releasing any more details regarding her ‘golden’ invitation, arguing that it was ‘too personal’, although she did cave in and divulge that it arrived in a ‘proper box’.
Another panelist asked whether it was in the form of ‘a scroll’, to which the star exclaimed: ‘I’m not saying anymore! I’ve said enough!’
Presenter Love finally asked what was on the tip of all of our tongues: ‘Will the Spice Girls be performing at the reception?’
This prompted Mel B to immediately avert her eyes by looking down at the desk before muttering: ‘I swear… I’m just…’
Love took that as a big fat ‘yes’ before Mel – who threw her teleprompter cards in the air in exasperation – announced: ‘I need to go… I’m going to be fired!’
The Spice Girls recently confirmed they had reformed, with Victoria Beckham sharing a picture of the nineties girl group posing together -– marking their first reunion since 2012.
She then added another one of the band with their former manager Simon Fuller.
Harry and Meghan will be marrying at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, on 19 May, followed by a performance from the Spice Girls at their reception, most probably.
Well, it’s one way to spice up a wedding, isn’t it?
