Australians have a worldwide reputation for thriving in the health and fitness industry, and global franchise, F45, is leading the way with their global expansion. Since its launch in Australia in 2014, F45 has enjoyed global success, with over 1,000 franchises open in 38 countries.

When it comes to finding the motivation to exercise, Australians are at the forefront. With their innovation in healthy nutrition to their fierce dedication to fitness, there is definitely a thing or two we can learn from the Aussies.

We caught up with fellow Aussie Jade Pearman, F45 UK Head Trainer and Co-Owner of F45 Chelmsford who reveals her exclusive health and fitness hacks that we Brits should be following.

1. Be Prepared

Preparation is key, especially when it comes to healthy eating. If you know you are going to be out, and exercising that day, pack a healthy lunch in your bag. The worst thing you can do is rely on being able to find something healthy in the shops, as you will become tempted by all the sugary treats on offer. Though these might provide short-term benefits, think about how it will make you feel in the long-run when you wonder why you are not achieving your weight loss goals.

2. Find something you enjoy

It can be difficult to get back into fitness when you have had some time off, however, this should not be the reason you don’t get back into it. Find the type of exercise you enjoy, whether it’s an energetic and team-based workout, a fast-paced spinning class or a skills-based boxing class.

3. You don’t need to train for hours a day to get results

Many people get confused with how to achieve their fitness goals. What they misunderstand is that you don’t need to train all day, every day to see results. Instead, you should try to get in four, challenging, short workout sessions a week, a tip which transformed the lives of many, struggling Australians. Not only will you see results much quicker, you’ll also be more likely to maintain them.

4. Be consistent

It doesn’t work if you only go to the gym one day a week. I have witnessed tears, sadness and a sense of failure when people’s weight creeps back on. This is why you need to make sure you get yourself involved with something that is sustainable, it’s no good doing something that you know you will hate in two weeks’ time. If this means doing different classes, or joining specialist gyms, so be it. You need to find what works for you so you can stick to it.

5. Don’t overdo it

Listen to your body. If you ache, and not in the good way, take a rest day. This is not going to make you put on weight, rather, it will get you closer to your fitness goals as it will avoid any long-lasting damage. You are allowed a break from the healthy eating and exercise once in a while, make sure you give yourself one.

6. You can’t out train a bad diet

If you eat like crap, you can’t counteract this by overloading yourself at the gym. Of course, this might seem logical and perhaps a little sensible, to work off all of the bad food you have binged on so that you can quite frankly; have your cake and eat it too. However, this is not how fitness works. The fattening foods you think are a good idea are only going to make you feel sluggish, demotivated, and will also make your skin terrible. This will all have a detrimental impact on your fitness goals, as you will force yourself to lack in confidence, and see no desire to hit the gym.
