Do you work from home? Or enjoy a hobby from a home office or desk? Well, even though our revising days are far behind us, it appears that students have some good advice on how we can organise our productive spaces…

Seeing as university students spend a lot of their time at desks, reading, writing and studying, they seem to be perfectly placed for sharing some home office organisational hacks.

Thousands of neat undergraduates have taken to Pinterest to share photos of their perfect planners, tidy study areas and colour-coded storage spaces.

Pinterest reports a 200% increase in ideas saved for ‘desk organising’ over the past 12 months, Mail Online reports.

Although our revising days are far behind us, here are some nifty tips for home office organisation…

1. Cart storage

Some of the smartest desk organisation hacks seen on Pinterest include using toilet paper rolls as pen holders and carts as storage, such as The Every Girl design of a three-tier cart to declutter desk space.

2. Wall organisers

Wall organisers are a great way to clear clutter away from the desk, and a cork board is perfect for storing messages and memos.

3. Functional desk drawers

Make use of compartments within drawers to organise stationery. Little boxes work very well for pins and clips.

4. Bulldog clip hangers

Attach bulldog clips to the ends of desks to create alternative hangers for chargers and cables.

5. Jam jar storage

Choose some alternative storage options like the students do, such as jam jars for holding pens and other stationery. You can even decorate them to look more funky.

6. Shoe boxes to store books

Another useful idea to store office belongings is using shoe boxes to keep books out of the way.

7. Colour-coded planners

Organise your planner and schedule with colour. It will help keep everything neat and clear in your mind.

8. Wall calendars

Rather than using a conventional calendar, create your own by temporarily adding pieces of paper for each day on a pin board. You can add new ideas and swap jobs around.

9. Sticky notes

Using sticky notes is great for planners because you can remove and change things around whenever you need to.
