Usually we just throw our hair up in a bun and head out to the shops/to work/to overpriced brunch with minimal makeup on. But, when we know someone we fancy will be there suddenly we are surrounded by every beauty product under the sun as we desperately try to distangle the rollers from our hair.
However, being attractive is not just about how we look and, according to the people of Reddit, there are other better ways to make yourself more desirable.
And the best news is that if you don’t already do these things, you can learn to do them really easily – which is fabulous news for both our self-esteem and our lacklustre locks.
The thread began when one user posed the question: what instantly makes you attracted to someone?
One user wrote: ‘Genuine kindness. I still remember this girl I met around a year and a half ago. I probably had a total of an hour around her, and only talked to her in a group setting, but the way she showed true interest in what I or anyone else was saying, and the way she exuded positivity, but not blind positivity just for the sake of being positive, and the way she seemed to be a genuinely happy person that wanted happiness for those around her.
‘Even those she just met, was what made her not just instantly attractive, but also so memorable.’
Another chipped in: ‘If a girl has a hobby that really impassions her’ – a point reiterated by lots of others in the conversation.
Other suggestions included sense of humour, eye contact, smelling good and a feeling of ‘not being hurried’.
Basically, spray on your favourite person and just go out and really listen to others instead of worrying whether your lipstick has smudged.
