It may feel like the winter is never ending but spring is just a few weeks away – and what better way to welcome in the new season than a sunny getaway?
Of course when you’re not limited to school holiday dates it’s easier to snap up great holiday deals, but in March there seem to be some particularly glamorous destinations where you wouldn’t necessarily expect to find brilliant bargains.
Whether you’re looking for a city break in Dubai, planning to explore the mangroves in The Gambia, or sunning it up on a beach in Barbados, March is a great time to travel as the weather is still sunny and warm, not to mention you’re beating the summer crowds.

1. The Gambia
If you’re looking to get away from it all for a few days, then The Gambia could be ideal.
Tucked away on the west African coast, this beautiful country has it all; white sand beaches, breathtaking mangroves, exotic wildlife, and stunning backdrops thanks to the Makasutu Forest.
Not to mention there are plenty of luxury retreats that won’t break the bank but offer total tranquility thanks to their location in the heart of the wilderness.
2. Dubai
A city break in Dubai is quite unlike any other. For a start, the city’s packed with plenty of incredible attractions from the iconic Burj Khalifa to the new giant Frame offering unrivalled views of the skyline.
Then there are the shops, theme parks and wide ranging restaurants on offer – and of course the city’s world famous mall.
3. Phuket, Thailand
You’ll be spoiled for choice for a dream holiday hotspot thanks to Thailand’s beautiful beaches where you can expect white sands, crystal-clear waters and seriously breathtaking scenery.
Then of course Thailand is notoriously cheap for eating out and making the most of the nightlife, while daytimes can be spent exploring the temples and cities for a glimpse into the fascinating local culture and heritage.
Temperatures will be hot and there might be the occasional rain shower but usually March still offers some ultimate sunshine holiday conditions.
4. Bali

If it’s a relaxing holiday that you’re after, then Cape Verde is sure to deliver thanks to its laidback culture, picture-perfect beaches and foodie delights.
If you do manage to tear yourself away from the beach, there’s plenty to see and do on Sal Island from kite-surfing to fishing… or even checking out the vibrant nightlife.
6. Barbados
Hailed as one of the best value Caribbean destinations for 2018 , Barbados is the epitome of beach holiday inspiration with its crystalline blue waters, picture-perfect beaches and seriously stunning scenery.

7. Orlando, Florida
If you’ve always wanted to check out Orlando’s theme parks but don’t want to face the crowds, then March could be ideal; after all, it’s outside the school holidays so you’ll have much shorter queues!
It’s easy to snap up cheap tickets to Walt Disney World and cheap tickets to Universal Studios Resort too, not to mention you can enjoy the balmy temperatures and sunshine.
8. Fuerteventura, the Canaries
Although you won’t enjoy the hot temperatures and constant sunshine you can expect from the Canaries during the summer months, don’t rule them out.
By March the weather is already picking up with average temperatures of 20C so although you’ll have to pack a jumper or two, it does mean you can enjoy scenic walks along Fuerteventura’s beautiful beaches – without the crowds.
Then there are the bars, restaurants and luxury hotels where you can have an idyllic mini break, without paying the summer season prices.
9. Amsterdam, the Netherlands
From the fascinating museums to the historical landmarks and picturesque canals, there are so many things to see and do on a city break in Amsterdam . Not to mention that the city is filled with some brilliant cheap hotels – but there are particularly great deals to be had throughout March.
