When you’re young, you might believe that love is all about grand gestures: flowers, chocolates, standing outside of a bedroom window holding up a boom box in the rain. But when you’ve been married for a while, you know that love is actually about the little things: making someone a cup of coffee, helping the kid out with his homework so that you can get to work on time, or, increasingly, bending over backwards for that perfect Insta shot.
On Christmas Eve, Taylor Burkhalter, a 24-year-old from Fayetteville, Arkansas, posted a series of photos of his parents on Twitter with the caption, “I’ve learned more about love from watching my dad reluctantly rearrange the living room so my mom can make snow angel boomerangs for her 29 Instagram followers than anything else in life.”
