It’s looking more and more likely that all five Spice Girls really are on the verge of announcing a massive reunion tour.
The ladies broke the internet last week when they posed together for an Instagram snap, six years after they’d last been together on stage at the London Olympic Games back in 2012.
At the time, they confirmed to Digital Spy that they had some ‘exciting’ projects in the works, saying: ‘We have enjoyed a wonderful afternoon catching up and reminiscing about the amazing times we have spent together.
‘We are always overwhelmed at how much interest there is across the whole world for The Spice Girls. The time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together.
‘We all agree that there are many exciting possibilities that will once again embrace the original essence of The Spice Girls, while reinforcing our message of female empowerment for future generations.’
Now, Mel B may have let the cat out of the bag about those plans, thanks to paparazzi confronting her on the streets of Hollywood. In a video published by TMZ, Mel B seems to indicate that a reunion tour announcement is coming… without actually saying a word.
Watch Mel try to wriggle her way out of potentially spoiling the massive announcement in the video here.
That video was recorded on Tuesday (6th February). Since then, TMZ has reported that all five girls have definitely agreed to a tour that will start at home in the UK later this year and then head to the US.
Later on Wednesday, Geri Horner stopped short of outright confirming a tour to The Sun, but also didn’t deny that live shows are being discussed at the moment.
‘When we all came together it was really nice to reflect on the past,’ she recalled. ‘Then we looked at the new generation as well and thought, “We should think about them. That’s important to us.”
‘Regardless of whether we were in a band singing together, I still want to know that they’re happy and well and support them individually or collectively. I really do care about them.’
She then teased: ‘Whatever we decide to do, however it unfolds, it will be something joyful and very connective. We love our fans, we love the music, we respect them.
‘And we want to share that spirit of the Spice Girls. All I can say is: Watch this space.’
The reunion will apparently also include brand new merchandise that will be developed by the Girls’ manager, Pop Idol and So You Think You Can Dance impresario Simon Fuller.
All five Spice Girls last toured together in 2007 and 2008 in a worldwide trek that made more than $100million in ticket sales alone.
