This is the moment a New Zealand navy ship sails through a colossal wave which briefly submerges its bridge in rough seas in the Southern Ocean.
Incredible footage shows the navy ship bobbing up and down over choppy Antarctic waters as the enormous wave looms in the distance.
Within seconds it smashes down onto the bow, flooding it with water.
The viral video, posted to Instagram on December 17, has been viewed more than 44,000 times.
It was filmed by Isaac Ford, a marine technician for the Royal New Zealand Navy, during one of his expeditions.
Isaac, who has more than 3,000 Instagram followers, posts pictures of him surfing huge waves and catching hefty fish.
As the wave engulfs the ship, he can be heard laughing with his comrades from inside the cabin above deck.
The Royal New Zealand Navy operates across an enormous maritime area from Antarctica to the Middle East.
Its vessels are built to stand the harsh and cold Southern Ocean, as well as the warmer Pacific and Indian oceans.
Marine technicians are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the ship’s engines, equipment and systems.
