When it comes to the laws of attraction, everyone has a different type.

To stand-out from the competition, many daters decide to hit the gym hard.

But this may not be the best way to go, as British women actually prefer blokes who work on a completely different skill.

A survey revealed what daters really look for – and it has nothing to do with rippling muscles or a larger-than-average manhood.

Staggeringly, 96% of participants admitted that they’d prefer a partner who had language skills rather than a six-pack.

With 76% finding bilingual people attractive, this isn’t surprising.

Those who can speak both Italian and English are in luck, as this was deemed the most lust-worthy trait.

Participants revealed why they found language skills so attractive.

The top reason is that they find other cultures interesting (40%), while 21% believe that a second tongue demonstrates intelligence in a partner.

Around 14% of people polled confessed that they were allured by the mystery of another language.

Men seemed to have cottoned on to the fact that speaking in different dialects is appealing.

More than 45% admitted that they would try and learn more about other cultures in order to get lucky.

Research was conducted by language-learning app Babbel and dating site EliteSingles.

The results were revealed after 6,000 people were polled.

Mike Redfern, Babbel Country Manager, said: “Language is at the core of human interaction.

“When another person tries to speak in your language, not only does it provide a talking point, but it builds a rapport between the two people and shows the other person cares.”

A spokesperson for EliteSingles added: “Connection and great communication are vital parts of a first date – especially if you want to land a second one.”

“This survey goes to prove what we and our members have long known – the body’s most attractive muscle is the mind”.
