Avocados and purple superfoods dominated the list of health trends for 2017 but as we head into a new year, what can we expect to be trying out in the next 12 months?
Well, apparently, mushroom coffee.
Yep. That’s right, you could be forgetting about your comforting morning brew in favour of this vegetable alternative.
But it’s not as ludicrous as it sounds (though we can’t account for taste) because mushrooms were recently discovered to be effective in the fight against dementia, and next year mushrooms look likely to achieve ‘superfood’ status.
‘Mushrooms are becoming “functional,” meaning they’re going to start cropping up in unexpected places,’ said Darren Beale, founder of MuscleFood.com, explained to The Express.
He continued to explain, ‘It’s all down to their super health benefits – they’re a powerful antioxidant and crammed with Vitamin D and B-Vitamins.’
Goodbye Earl Grey, hello milky mushrooms.
