A VERY WINDSOR CHRISTMAS
Ever wondered how the royal family celebrates Christmas? Luckily for us, Darren McGrady (who once cooked for Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth II) is here to serve us a couple of their holiday secrets.

CHRISTMAS LUNCH
After going to church on Christmas Day, the royal family settles down for their lunch feast. According to Chef McGrady, this usually includes a hearty salad, turkey, and vegetable sides such as carrots or Brussels sprouts. For dessert: a traditional Christmas pudding.

AFTERNOON TEA
They gather once more for afternoon tea (as is the British custom). You can expect their Earl Grey to be served with fruitcake on the side — because what’s Christmas without fruitcake?

BUFFET DINING AND A TOAST
Their dinner is served buffet-style, with over a dozen different menu items to choose from. Once the chef carves the meat, the Queen serves him a glass of whiskey for a toast. McGrady reveals that this is one of the rare occasions where Her Majesty the Queen serves the people that cook for her.

WHAT THEY DON’T EAT
The one thing you won’t find at the royal family’s Christmas dinner are appetizers and canapés. They reserve these dishes for New Year’s Eve (you wouldn’t want to spoil your appetite for the feast, would you?).

WHAT THE QUEEN CAN’T RESIST
For dessert, Queen Elizabeth II takes advantage of the holidays to indulge in sweets. According to many insider accounts, Her Majesty is a verified chocoholic and would hardly say no to a dark chocolate dessert.
