As well as beautiful, snowy scenes and cosy, warming fires, winter also brings with it a host of hazards for our skin, including a mix of temperatures, dryness and lack of vitamin D.
It’s good timing, then, that skincare entrepreneur and beauty expert Liz Earle MBE has shared her top winter skin health tips with Get The Gloss.
Here, Liz focuses on how our diets can affect our skin and recommends her favourite foods to help keep our skin glowing during the cold, winter months…
To boost moisture…
It’s common to experience dry skin in winter due to the cold temperatures outside contrasting with the warmth inside. To counteract this, Liz recommend eating nuts and seeds to maintain a good level of vitamin E which will ease problem skin.
To keep skin clear…
Liz told Get The Gloss, “One of my favourite skin food tips is to drink kefir, a super-yoghurt drink, made when kefir grains are added to milk or similar liquids.” Liz believes the fermented milk can help keep skin clear and blemish-free.
To boost immunity…
A festive option to our immunity-boosting vitamin C is clementines. Liz also recommends eating kale and pomegranate seeds to help prevent illness and the skin issues that happen as a consequence when we are tired and fighting infection.
To improve overall wellness…
Low mood definitely shows itself on our skin. The beauty-guru suggests some reliable wellness foods, including avocado to up your levels of folic acid, liquorice to reduce overall stress, and beetroot to increase vitamin B minerals and encourage slow-release energy throughout the day.
