If we asked you to think of your favourite festive sweet treat, we’d have put good money on you saying Quality Street or Terry’s Chocolate Orange.
So, imagine our surprise at discovering that the UK’s favourite has been revealed as Ferrero Rocher.
Now – no offence to Ferrero Rocher – but that’s pretty shocking, right?
After comparing the results of a survey of 1,000 Brits and an analysis of annual sales, advanced food manufacture scientist (*who knew that a was a job?*) Andy Baxendale has concluded that Ferrero Rocher are the nation’s favourite.
‘Everyone develops a sweet tooth at Christmas and for some people the festive period just isn’t the same without certain chocolates and sweets, some of which they will have enjoyed each year since they were children,’ Baxendale told The Metro.
He continued: ‘Ferrero Richer sales have risen approximately 17% each year and in the UK sell around 130 million – and that’s enough for two each for every member of the UK population.’
Now, that’s all well and good, but we still reckon Quality Street is the true winner. In what universe are they less popular than candy canes!?
