These incredible images capture the intricate details of miniscule snowflakes, moments before they melt.

The brilliant macro shots are taken by Don Komarechka, 31, who has had a lifelong fascination with all things macro and especially snowflakes.

Professional photographer Don says people often don’t believe that his pictures are real because they’re so perfect.

The Canadian said: “These photos were all taken two feet from my back door over the past two winters.

“We’re looking at the intricate details of ice crystals that form in the atmosphere and fall to earth. Snowflakes can possess unending beauty and details even in a single crystal that measures only a few millimeters in diameter.

“All of these snowflakes are photographed on the same home-made black mitten as a background.

“Each snowflake takes roughly four hours to edit to ensure perfect details.

“I’ve always had an interest in macro photography and seeing these hidden details, but I lost my childhood curiosity for snowflakes when I had to clear them by the trillions off of my driveway.”
