Rumors of an imminent engagement announcement between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gained even more momentum when bookmakers confirmed they have suspended all bets on an engagement announcement.

And now a spokesperson for the royal family has responded to the frenzy of reports to state that they “would not give a running commentary on Harry’s love life.” They refused to comment any further (via Hello!).

Earlier this week, a spokesperson for British bookmaker Ladbrokes said they were bracing themselves for a royal engagement any moment now, telling Mail Online: “Royal watchers would love a Christmas engagement announcement, and as far as we are concerned it’s coming imminently.”

It comes following reports that the 36-year-old Suits actress has moved out of her Toronto apartment and will be now living permanently in Harry’s Kensington Palace residence, Nottingham Cottage.

The actress landed in London a few days ago, and was recently pictured shopping on the King’s Road in London.

There have also been suggestions that Markle and her Suits co-star Patrick J. Adams won’t be returning to the hit legal drama next year, after recently wrapping Season 7. While their rumored departures have yet to be officially confirmed, her body double Nicky Bursic recently posted a picture of herself standing next to the actress, which she captioned with a heartfelt “goodbye” message, suggesting the news of Markle’s departure from the show is happening sooner than expected.

But despite all of the hysteria, royal expert Katie Nicholl predicts that the couple’s announcement won’t arrive until next year (via ET), which would be a pretty wonderful way to start 2018.
