There’s really nothing like the way a groom looks at his bride coming down the aisle for the first time. (If you don’t believe me, see if you can get through this post without tearing up even a little.) But when Erin Goldberg hired a photographer to take “first look” photos of her husband-to-be’s reaction, she had something a bit more unconventional in mind.
The Scottsdale bride-to-be decided she’d come out to surprise her fiancé in full wedding-day makeup and wearing a cat tee shirt from Walmart, a 10-year-old pair of Victoria’s Secret PINK sweatpants and a pair of sensible white slip on shoes. According to Yahoo Lifestyle, the outfit is one of Erin’s favorite pajama getups.
The couple have been together for nearly five years, and met while working at a nonprofit called SARRC, running programs for adults and adolescents with autism. Erin is a 6th grade teacher and Ean is a child therapist. And they did eventually take another set of “first look” photos — this time, with Erin in her wedding dress.
Erin says she always often finds little ways to prank her partner, like saying she lost her ring or wallet. “Even last night when he got home after picking up the dinner in the other room I told him they forgot his food.” She jokes, “He gets frazzled easily so he’s an easy target for me.”
Erin says Ean loved it. “It took a lot of pressure off the already stressful day and allowed him to laugh and to not take it all so seriously.”
And not only was he a good sport, he told Yahoo that “Even in her cat shirt, sweatpants, and stupid slip-on shoes, she still looked drop-dead gorgeous.” Just goes to show you, the “first look” isn’t always about the wedding dress or other details, but about the LOVE and emotion behind it all. *Swoon*
