You suggest going for drinks to ‘talk’ about things, ‘just as friends’. But really, you’re hoping to reconcile what you once had. Nice try!
THE DRUNK TEXTS
When it becomes apparent that you really have broken up, obviously you go for a big night out with the girls. It’s fun at first but after drowning your sorrows in wine, you have no control over texting actions…oops.
STALKING
Probably when you’re nursing your hangover in bed the next day, you spend hours delving deep into his social media accounts. Surely, he can’t be having fun without me? Who’s that girl in that photo? His hair looked so much better when I was with him…You only make things worse for yourself!
ANGER
When you realize that you’ve been wasting your days obsessing over him, you suddenly hate him for doing this to you. You throw out anything he ever touched or reminds you of him, and probably delete every photo you had together.
THE REBOUND
Now that you’ve completely erased him from your life, it’s time to show him that you’ve totally moved on. You have a series of one-night stands and find a ‘rebound’ to show him how happy you are. You know they don’t mean anything but it makes you feel better at the time, right?
GIRL POWER!
After all this you vow to never go near boys again! Who needs ‘em? You decide to become a staunch feminist instead and steer clear of relationships- for the sake of your sanity!
THE CALM AFTER THE STORM
Eventually, you really do get over him. You realize that there is a whole world of nice, caring men out there for you and that breakups are just part of life. You might even look back at the whole experience and laugh!
