Dating apps and social media have put more of an emphasis on how we look – but what if you’re not generically attractive?
A recent Reddit thread asked women what men can do to make themselves become more attractive.
The post received over 3,200 comments – and revealed that women are searching for much more than looks in a potential date.
Here are nine things that make a man more attractive:
1. Have a passion
“Passion for something in their life. A hobby, a job, anything really.”
2. An easygoing personality
“A fun personality. It’s like seeing their face morph when you realise that they have a lot to offer personality wise.”
3. Key traits
“Good personality, sense of humour, kindness, intelligence, depth, good grooming and a nice sense of fashion”
4. Kindness is key
“Kindness is also a big factor. Not just being a fake nice guy who’s just nice to you, but seeing them be kind with everyone they meet is definitely a big plus for me. I have had a couple of dates where I see them interact with waiters or other people around us so rudely and it totally ruined them for me, no matter how attractive they were.”
5. Look after yourself
“Being in shape helps a lot, a sense of style, a nice personality, interesting hobbies.”
6. Simple, but effective
“Walking a dog.”
7. Don’t manslplain
“The ability to hold an interesting conversation that doesn’t rely on a debate. Even the most handsome man becomes hideous when every conversation is him trying to prove that his intellect is far superior.”
8. Keep clean
“Grooming. Cut and style your hair, get clothes that aren’t two sizes off, trim and clean your nails (I’m terrible about this, they’re clean at least). And it should go without saying, but shower regularly.”
9. Quiet confidence
“Confidence is the number one answer. Not the arrogant insecure kind like being overly aggressive or putting others down to look better.
“But a quiet, humble confidence that doesn’t need the approval of people to thrive. In short, be your own person. Do things you enjoy, wear the clothing you enjoy, hang out with people who don’t suck. Treat women with respect, as equals.”
