One look at Miley Cyrus’ Instagram and you’d be forgiven for having totally forgotten the singer and fiancé Liam Hemsworth dated for three years before splitting in 2013, such are their love-up pictures since rekindling their engagement last year.

However, in a recent interview with Howard Stern, the ‘Younger Now’ singer revealed the devastating reason behind her original break-up with the Hunger Games star.

‘I had to. I don’t like when relationships are two halves trying to make a whole,’ she told the radio presenter.

‘So, I don’t think that I have that co-dependency,’ she added. ‘I think people that break up and get back together, that’s awesome.

‘You get time to be yourself. You get time to grow up. I think if you’re growing up attached to another person, you never really get solid as your own being.’

The 24-year-old and the 27-year-old actor first sparked rumours of a reconciliation in 2016 with Miley previously admitting she didn’t regret the break-up.

‘I didn’t know if that was the end of it or know if we’d be back together again, but knew that wherever I was going, I was on the right path,’ she revealed in an interview on Sirius FM earlier this year.

However, despite the pair’s reunion and rumoured up-coming wedding, the former Disney child star isn’t afraid to say she’s still weary of her fiancé’ on-screen romances.

When asked if she keeps tabs on Liam’s relationships with his female co-stars, the star joked: ‘I keep my little spies, so I don’t always have to be there.’

Happy valentines 🌹

Liam and Miley first met on he set of Nicholas Sparks novel-turned film, The Last Song in 2009.

During the interview, the singer also revealed that during the pair’s break-up, Liam bought a home in Malibu, California only to later learn his ex had once lived in the house.

‘He went to move in and was like, “F***. I can’t get away. This b*tch is all over my house.”‘ she said.

Well, all’s well that ends well.
