Priyanka Chopra has always been vocal about not wanting to play second fiddle to a man: She would rather be Ms. Bond than a Bond girl and, with those moves, can totally kick ass as your next Bat(wo)man.

So when her close friend and fellow actress and activist Meghan Markle had a huge Vanity Fair cover story, Chopra had something to say about it:

I don’t know if I will get into trouble for this, but I have an opinion. I mean, she’s on the cover of Vanity Fair. It would have been nice to write about her not just her boyfriend. I’m just saying. I mean, she’s an actor, she’s an activist, she’s a philanthropist. I mean, she does so much more.
The cover story focused on Markle’s relationship with Prince Harry, though in the article Markle herself comments, “I’ve never defined myself by my relationship.”

Chopra continued:

It’s just a little sexist. Look, I’m a feminist and I love boys, okay…The only thing I’m saying is that there needs to be a certain sense of equality where a woman is not just a plus one, you know. It’s nice to be your own identity too.
This isn’t the first time Chopra has come to Markle’s defense. Earlier this year, she skillfully corrected Wendy Williams when the host referred to Markle as “Prince Harry’s girlfriend.”
