2017 has already been a pretty terrific year for movies, and that trend appears to continue into the fall. From superhero blockbusters like “Thor: Ragnarok” to horror flicks like “It,” these are the movies to keep an eye on between September and November.

‘BATTLE OF THE SEXES’

Release Date: September 22

Sports biopics are a dime a dozen, but this one looks like a particularly interesting example of a familiar genre. Emma Stone and Steve Carell star as tennis stars Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs, respectively, as the film chronicles their famous 1973 match.

‘KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE’

Release Date: September 22

2017 already ranks as one of the greatest years ever for superhero movies, and it’s not over yet. Director Matthew Vaughn is back for this follow-up to his surprisingly enjoyable James Bond parody. In the R-rated sequel, Taron Egerton’s Eggsy and Mark Strong’s Merlin head across the pond and team up with their American counterparts, the Statesmen.

‘STRONGER’

Release Date: September 22

Jake Gyllenhaal and Tatiana Maslany star in this biopic about Jeff Bauman, a man who lost both legs in the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombings. It’s a tricky subject to explore, but we have faith in director David Gordon Green.

‘AMERICAN MADE’

Release Date: September 29

After the disaster that was this summer’s “The Mummy” reboot, we’re looking forward to Tom Cruise moving in a different direction with “American Made.” Cruise plays Barry Seal, a real-life airline pilot-turned-CIA operative who smuggled arms and drugs into Central America and wound up fueling the rise of the Medellin Cartel.

‘THE MOUNTAIN BETWEEN US’

Release Date: October 6

“The Mountain Between Us” chronicles the struggle of two plane crash survivors forced to make their way through hundreds of miles of icy wilderness. The real selling point here is that those two survivors are played by master thespians Kate Winslet and Idris Elba.

‘THE FOREIGNER’

Release Date: October 13

It’s been too long since we’ve seen Jackie Chan in a major American movie. Don’t expect any wacky martial arts antics this time, however. Instead, Chan stars opposite Pierce Brosnan as a grieving father searching for answers after his daughter is killed in a terrorist attack.

‘GOODBYE CHRISTOPHER ROBIN’

Release Date: October 13

Fans of 2004’s “Finding Neverland” will feel right at home with this story about an author finding inspiration for their most enduring creation. Domhnall Gleeson stars as A. A. Milne, the man who was inspired by his son to create Winnie the Pooh and the world of the Hundred Acre Wood.

‘SUBURBICON’

Release Date: October 27

“Suburbicon” is the closest thing we’ll get to a new Coen Bros. movie this fall. The Coens wrote this film about the dark underbelly lurking beneath 1950’s suburban life, but it’s actually directed by their frequent partner George Clooney. Matt Damon and Julianne Moore star as a couple caught in the middle of an expanding web of betrayal and deceit in their quaint neighborhood.
