Winners for the 2017 Television Critics Association Awards were revealed on August 5 in a ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The event was presided over by Tony and Emmy winner Kristin Chenoweth. HBO led all networks with 12 nominations, followed by FX at 11, Netflix at 10, and NBC with seven. Scroll down for the full list of winners.
The TCA Awards use the same eligibility period as the Emmys: June 1, 2016 and May 31, 2017. But while they follow the same time line as the Emmys, they don’t necessarily follow the same patterns in terms of who they award. In past years their top prize, Program of the Year, has gone to Emmy favorites like “The Sopranos” (1999, 2001), “The West Wing” (2000) “Game of Thrones” (2012), and “Breaking Bad” (2013-2014). But other times the critics go their own way, as when they awarded “EZ Streets” (1997), “Battlestar Galactica” (2009), and “Empire” (2015), which were never even nominated in their top Emmy category, Best Drama Series.
