We’re all about ageing positively here at Prima.co.uk, so it’s always refreshing when an A-list celebrity speaks up against the current obsession with anti-ageing. Especially when the woman in question has long been regarded as one of the most beautiful in the world.
But, when asked about her looks in a new interview with InStyle, Angelina Jolie had quite possibly the best response we’ve heard.
Referencing her late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who passed away from ovarian cancer in 2007 at the age of just 56, Angelina made a poignant point about why it’s important to embrace getting older.
‘I look in the mirror and I see that I look like my mother, and that warms me,’ she said. ‘I also see myself ageing, and I love it because it means I’m alive – I’m living and getting older.’
The 42-year-old mother of six added that she actively embraces any imperfections on her face, because they help tell the story of her life.
‘I see my flaws,’ she continued. ‘But what I see that I like isn’t about a structure or an appearance. It’s more that I see my family in my face. I see my age.’
Wise words indeed…
