A mom of four says keeping prepared, healthy snacks at eye level in her refrigerator has helped her lose 30 pounds.
Leslie Nuno of Portland, Oregon, organizes her refrigerator to ensure she is eating more nutrients and less sweets. Nuno, also a Weight Watchers member, says the change has made a difference in her family’s health, too.
Here’s how she does it:
1. Prepare food after grocery shopping. Nuno says she washes and chops produce before she even puts her groceries away. She hard boils eggs, too. She, along with any kid that wants to help, will prepare snack bags, with the prepared items. Think: Snack-size plastic bags packed with small chunks of broccoli and carrots. That way, grabbing a healthy snack isn’t as daunting.
2. Make healthy options front and center in the refrigerator. Nuno has grapes, oranges, yogurt, eggs and vegetable snack pouches all near eye level in her fridge. Sweets or less healthy options are harder to find. She will often hide cookies in drawers, because we all know that’s were produce usually goes to die.
