The United Arab Emirates is gearing up for another world-first – this time, in space.
Plans for the Emirates Space Hospital were announced this week at the Arab Health conference being held in Dubai.
The hospital will be aligned to the UAE Centennial 2071 and the National Space Program, Al Arabiya reports, citing Khaleej Times.
“The astronauts will be treated in space but all treatment will be controlled on earth using nanotechnology,” Dr Kulthoom Al Belooshi, director of hospital administration at the ministry was quoted as saying.
“Telemedicine will not be confined to hospitals. It will reach space,” Belooshi added.
