It’s one of those age-old questions that can seriously divide us: are you more of a ‘dog person’ or a ‘cat person’?
And, even though many of us love animals in general, it seems that having a particular preference for one pet over the other may say something about your personality and life choices.
It turns out there are some big differences between self-confessed dog lovers and cat fans – at least according to the results of a new survey by Mars Petcare on 1,000 dog lovers and 1,000 cat fans in the US.
And the good news? It looks like there are advantages to being on both sides of the debate…
While the survey revealed that dog lovers are likely to be better off financially, with a higher average income, it looks like ‘cat people’ are more creative, Business Insider reports.
Cat lovers seem to prefer spending their leisure time watching documentaries, reading books, seeing musicals and gardening, but ‘dog people’ are apparently more active, preferring to travel, watch action films and exercise.
But, regardless of your preference, Mars Petcare say one resounding conclusion can be taken from the results: a pet really does play a vital emotional role in your life.
‘Whether you are hitting your fitness goals thanks to a bit of a push from your dog, or engaging in a little therapy talk with your cat, it’s obvious that no matter what furry friend you prefer, the benefits of pet ownership should not be overlooked,’ said spokesperson Jam Stewart.
