The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will attend a black-tie dinner with Alicia Vikander on their upcoming royal tour, according to new details released by Kensington Palace.

Prince William and Catherine are due to visit Sweden and Norway from Tuesday 30 January to Friday 2 February at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office – which will mark their first official visits to the countries.

Upon arrival in Sweden, the royal couple will be welcomed with a royal lunch hosted by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, then in Norway they will attend an official dinner held by King Harald V and Queen Sonja at Oslo’s royal palace.

During their time in the Swedish capital of Stockholm, William and Kate will meet with Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden, before attending a black-tie dinner at the residence of the British ambassador.

Guests at this dinner will include Swedish Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star Stellan Skarsgård – who is also father to both Big Little Lies actor Alexander Skarsgård and It’s Bill Skarsgård.

A spokesperson for Kensington Palace said: ‘The four-day tour will also include time learning more about what makes Scandinavian culture so unique, from attitudes towards young people and mental health in schools, to the importance of being active and spending time outdoors, whatever the temperature may be.

‘The Duke and Duchess are keen to experience a taste of the Scandinavian way of life for themselves, and to see how people of all generations battle the elements to make the most of their surroundings, whether ice-skating in Stockholm’s local parks, or skiing off-piste in the hills that surround Oslo.’

They added: ‘The UK’s links with each country are extensive, and Their Royal Highnesses are looking forward to building a lasting friendship with the people of both Sweden and Norway.’

It will be the Duke and Duchess’s first overseas trip since they announced that they are expecting their third child, due in April.
