When you’re on the phone or trying to write your to-do list, you might find your hand starts to doodle in a mindless way.
Though these little sketches don’t seem to have much significance, they can actually reveal more about your personality than you might assume.
Consultant graphologist, Tracey Trussell, revealed to Mail Online the meaning behind the most common types of doodling, from hearts to circles. Her research for Samsung shows that doodles can suggest a lot about your mood and characteristics, depending on the pattern.
Here are the most common doodles and their meanings – which one are you?
1. Circles
If you’re a doodler of circles, it can suggest a need to belong, feel loved and love others. This is the case for any doodles that take on a particularly round form.
2. Squares
Scribbling squares suggests a down-to-earth and practical nature. Squares are very different to boxes though, as you’ll see later in the list…
3. Triangles
Drawing triangles in an absent-minded way reveals a powerful and ambitious personality. Sound like you?
4. Hearts
A lot of people doodle hearts, which signify love and romance. If you are a common doodler of this shape, you are likely to have an affectionate and sentimental personality.
5. Webs
Always fun to draw, webs suggest a personality skilled at persuading and enticing people.
6. Flowers
You might think that doodling flowers suggests you’re a garden lover, but it can also reveal a lot about your inner psyche. If your flower has a large circular centre, it shows confidence and the enjoyment of a good social life. On the other hand, more detailed flowers express an obsessive-compulsive personality.
7. Boxes
As mentioned earlier, boxes are very different to square doodles. Tracey believes that boxes suggest ambition, but also materialism.
8. Coils or spirals
Lovers of creativity, variety and progress tend to doodle spirals and coils.
