Regular orgasms can do much more for your well-being than providing a bit of temporary pleasure.

Scientists believe that they have brain-boosting powers and can even help to fight depression.

Dr Nicole Prause, who runs a sex lab Liberos in the US, has been exploring the science behind climaxing for almost a decade.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Star Online, she revealed more about the health benefits of orgasms.

Dr Prause revealed that getting jiggy can help to improve brain function.

A 2016 study showed that those who romped regularly scored better in mental challenges, including ones that tested their memory.

The sexpert explained: “There are many potential applications of sexual behaviors to promote general health.

“For example, continued sexual activity has been associated with better neuropsychological tests, specifically number sequencing and recall, suggesting that sexual activity may have the potential to improve or preserve cognitive functions.”

In addition to having brain-boosting benefits, orgasming can help you fight depression.

The pleasure can encourage the production of serotonin, reducing stress and lifting your mood.

As well as this, getting down and dirty with your partner can work to strengthen your relationship.

Dr Prause commented: “Sex appears to decrease stress the following day in satisfying romantic relationships, improve mood and feelings of meaning in life and increase job satisfaction and engagement.”

So just how often do we need to be bonking to reap these benefits?

Well according to the sex scientist, the more the better.

The medical expert said: “Studies have found that, within the range of sexual frequency that occurred naturally in their study participants, there was no upper limit for the benefits of sex.

“Statisticians would say the effects were ‘linear’.

“For example, when a study reported that life satisfaction was associated with more frequent sex, at no point did they find a turning point where very frequent sex was associated with a decrease in life satisfaction or a plateau in satisfaction.”

There are plenty of things you can do to put this research to the test.

An innovative new sex toy has been launched that promises 10 orgasms in 10 minutes.

As well as this, there are plenty of other ways to experience multiple climaxes.

Women can have orgasms from their G-spot, anal, nipples and a multitude of other erogenous zones.

Thankfully, helping your partner on the way to multiple orgasm really isn’t as tricky as it sounds.
