With the new year upon us, many Brits are giving up alcohol in the name of Dry January.
But the month-long tradition of quitting booze isn’t just good for your health and wallet, it’s good for your bedroom antics too.
Drinking is one of the nation’s most popular pastimes. In fact, recent research suggests that almost a quarter of UK adults drink a “hazardous” level of alcohol.
Medical nutritionist, Naomi Beinart, PhD, claims going dry this January will not only make you sleep better and feel happier – it will also boost your sex drive and make you better in the sack.
“You may feel friskier after a couple of glasses of wine. But in the long term, drinking more than the recommended weekly limit of 14 units can cause problems for both men and women in the bedroom,” she says.
“It can affect men’s ability to achieve or maintain an erection and a woman’s ability to orgasm.”
But not only does it effect performances in bed, it even reduces both a man and a woman’s libido.
Although a few cheeky beverages might boost your confidence – it can put you off wanting to have sex altogether.
So if you want to perform better – or you just want to enjoy sex more –it might be time to curb your alcohol intake.
Naomi’s tip:
If stress is holding back your libido, try Pukka Herbs’ Wholistic Ashwagandha.
A study carried out by BioMed Research International showed that women who had a daily dose of ashwagandha over a month saw significant improvement in achieving orgasm and sexual arousal.
