SOME CLOTHES
If you only wore those jeans once, don’t put them in the washer just yet. You should wash underwear, sweaty gym gear and tights after every wear. But for things like jeans and sweaters, you can wear them up to three times before you throw them in the hamper.
CURTAINS
Stop throwing your window coverings in the wash every month. Curtains usually don’t need to be clean and washed more than once a year and spot treated if needed.
WOOD FURNITURE
You want to take good care of your wood furniture, but there’s a good chance you’re cleaning it too often. Wood furniture cleaning sprays can cause buildup, which may result in even more dust. Instead, apply a thin coat of furniture polish once a month and wipe furniture down with just a cloth each week.
DINNER PLATES
Stop over-rinsing plates before loading them in the dishwasher! All you have to do is scrape off the food and let the dishwasher do the rest of the work. Next stop, clean plates.
JACKETS
Unless your jacket has visible dirt on it or smells bad, you can wash it just every three months. And jackets don’t have much contact with your skin or natural oils, so they don’t need to be as washed as often as some other items of clean clothing.
YOUR OVEN
Some people (believe it or not) clean their ovens too often. Always clean up food spills as they happen, but you can get by with wiping down the oven once a week. And for a deeper clean, stick to a schedule of about once every two to three months.
LIGHT FIXTURES
This week when you do your chores, you can skip dusting the light fixtures. And instead, once a month is enough to keep dust at bay and clean.
YOUR COMFORTER
Stop washing your comforter every week. While you should wash/clean your sheets and pillow cases once a week. You can wash your comforter every couple months since it doesn’t come in contact with your skin as much as the rest of your bedding.
THE DOG
Fido doesn’t need a bath as often as you may think. Unless your dog really smells bad or is filthy, cleaning should occur once every other month or so, depending on the breed. And do a rinse with water between washings to remove dirt and mud.
CLEAN YOURSELF
Unless you get sweaty and dirty every single day, you can skip the daily clean shower. Water and soap can dry out your skin so try bathing every other day.
