If you’re wondering what we’re all going to be eating and drinking next year, then listen up because Pinterest reckons it has a pretty good idea…
Yep, the platform has just released its Pinterest 100 report, summing up the top trends it predicts will be massive in 2018, including the very latest food and drink fads.
Pinterest bases its annual list on search data, working out what its users are looking for and saving on their boards to make or try later.
In 2018, it reckons that we’re all still going to be jumping on what it calls the ‘healthy meets tasty’ bandwagon. Sounds good, right?
Here are Pinterest’s top 10 predicted food and drink trends:
1. Air frying
A healthier way to fry food, air fryers use hot air instead of oil, so you can enjoy tasty favourites like homemade fries while reducing your calorie and fat intake.
2. Souping, not juicing
Pinterest reckons that warming and nourishing soups full of flavourful nutrients will be a diet mainstay in 2018.

3. Super coffee
Apparently, we’ll all be giving our morning coffee a boost with the likes of protein powder or superfoods, such as maca powder (a South American root vegetable, which is packed full of vitamins and minerals).
4. Moroccan food
North African spices, including cumin coriander and cardamom, will be making their way into our dishes.

5. Plant proteins
The meat-free trend continues to rise, with protein-packed lentils, quinoa and hemp all set to feature on our plates next year.
6. Edamame and snap peas
Snack-wise, Pinterest expects us to tuck into edamame and snap peas instead of more traditional (and less healthy) favourites.
7. Korean condiments
Pinterest expects the trend for Korean food to continue, with condiments such as spicy Gochujang (a red pepper paste) working their way into our meals.
8. Ghee
Following the rising popularity of dairy-free foods, Pinterests expects lactose-free ghee and clarified butter to gain traction in 2018.
9. Vegan desserts
The vegan trend is expected to continue, with Pinterest seeing a rise in searches for alternative desserts and cakes, free from the likes of butter and eggs.
10. Mocktails
And, finally, Pinterest expects us to make a shift towards alcohol-free cocktails or ‘mocktails’ next year. Hmm, we guess we might consider it during Dry January…
