If you’re planning a hen party abroad or a big trip with friends, and looking for the ultimate nightlife destination, then listen up.
Because an under-the-radar European city just a short flight away from the UK has been named the best city in the world for a night out: Hamburg in Germany.
Yep, according to a study by hostel-booking website Hostelworld, Germany’s second largest city might be your best bet.
Well, at the very least, you won’t waste any time deciding what to feed your hangover…
They worked this out after quizzing over 4,000 people from 41 cities in 27 countries about how they would rate their hometowns for nightlife, Business Insider reports.
The participants were asked about five different factors: the quality of the nightlife on offer, the openness and friendliness of the locals, how safe they feel, how easy it is to get around, and the cost involved.
And Hamburg came out on top thanks to its friendly locals, easy transport links, and the proximity of its key destinations to each other.
The German city was closely followed by Copenhagen in Denmark, which scored highly for safety and the quality of its nightlife, but lost out because of the cost.
Berlin and Dublin, both known to be hot nightlife destinations, followed in the third and fourth spots respectively.
‘The results of this study have been fascinating, especially the performance of smaller cities – most notably with Hamburg taking top spot over Berlin,’ Marek Mossakowski, Global Head of Brand at Hostelworld, told Business Insider.
