An Instagram blogger who managed to lose an amazing seven stone in just two years has revealed the secrets to her weight loss success.

Rebecca Grafton (aka @MyGirlishWhims) from the US began her diet journey in January 2014 after booking a beach holiday in May of that year.

‘My weight ballooned up higher than it had ever been before,’ she told PopSugar. ‘It got to the point where my body was changing so much — my face showed the weight gain so much that I couldn’t even recognise myself in photos anymore.’

She continued: ‘I didn’t want to look back on all the pictures from my trip to Jamaica and not be able to remember how much fun I had because all I could see was how fat I looked in the photos.’

I’m the same girl after losing 100 pounds: I still love a good rosé and pink dresses ☺️🍷I just had to force myself to focus my efforts and motivation on losing weight. I was happy and loved life when I was heavy but just didn’t realize HOW MUCH happier I could be if I took control of my health to lose the extra weight. I’ve always been a driven and dedicated person: I just had to consciously make the decision to focus that dedication on weight loss. What are you good at? What are you passionate about? Think about if you put as much effort into weight loss as you put into your hobbies or job. I wasn’t good at working out. I didn’t know how to cook healthy food. I thought for something to taste good it had to be smothered in cheese 🤷🏼‍♀️🧀 I had no willpower to say no to the yummy desserts at the office and drank wine on random Tuesday nights because I wanted to. I had to finally say ENOUGH when I reached 246 pounds 🙅🏼‍♀️ I wasn’t good at working out but I went and did it every day anyway. I sweat and I jiggled and I was one of the heaviest people in my Zumba class but I kept on going because I decided it was time to be dedicated. I didn’t know how to make healthy food taste good so I subscribed to cooking light and experimented and forced myself to try new things and cut my portion sizes even when I didn’t want to. I stopped drinking alcohol during the week and made myself stay committed week after week because I KNEW I had the drive: I just had to force myself to focus that drive and dedication on getting healthy. Time passed, weight loss stalled at times, but ultimately I stayed committed long enough to lose 100 pounds and it was the BEST use of my dedication I ever could have imagined 💕 #transformationtuesday #weightloss #weightlossjourney #weightlossmotivation #weightlosstransformation #weightlossinspiration #fitfam #fitspo #weightlossbeforeandafter #100poundsdown

After managing to shed such an impressive amount of weight in two years – and keep it off – the 27-year-old has now shared how she did it…

First up, Rebecca enlisted the help of a free calorie-counting app…

‘I first started by tracking my calories, using the app My Fitness Pal,’ she told PopSugar. ‘The app set calorie goals for me, and I would follow those goals and also add in the calories I burned from exercise. That worked for me until I stalled at 95 pounds (6.7 stone) lost.

‘Then I switched to the If It Fits Your Macros (IIFYM) diet plan, where instead of tracking only calories, I track the grams of protein, carbs, and fats I eat and have specific goals and ratios for how much I eat of each macronutrient.’

As well as carefully tracking her food intake, Rebecca also followed two further rules: she allowed herself the occasional treat, and also made exercise a part of her daily life….

‘I gave myself some breaks,’ she added, explaining that she followed the ’80/20 rule of diligently tracking most of the time’.

YOU JUST HAVE TO DECIDE TO START AND STAY COMMITTED
As for exercise, Rebecca says: ‘I typically work out every day for about an hour’. Her workouts are varied, including everything from spin classes to workout DVDs and jogging.

Speaking about her amazing transformation, Rebecca added: ‘For the first time in my life, I had a flat stomach and was finally confident enough to wear a bikini in public.

‘My face changed so much that once my mum didn’t even recognise me while out in public!’

#motivationmonday I wish I could buy this tank for every single person who has commented or sent me a DM asking me how I stayed motivated for long enough to lose 100 pounds (tanks and tees are on sale between today and Thursday ONLY! Click the link in my bio to buy) The truth is, when I first started my journey I had NO IDEA I was capable of losing 100 pounds. My first goal was just to get to 190 pounds because it was a “comfortable” distance away from 200 but even that meant I had to lose over 50 pounds which was SO DAUNTING to me. I had no clue how to do it and honestly I was skeptical if I really could even make that goal but I was just so sick and tired of being so overweight that at 246 pounds I put on those workout clothes and I just decided to START. I dragged myself to the gym and danced my way through cliquey Zumba classes where I felt super out of place, I forced myself to try new recipes and cut back on portion sizes to make healthier food choices, I turned down the treats at the office and cut back on alcohol and as much as it SUCKED at times, eventually it became easier for me. Before I knew it these small changes were turning into major milestones and in 9 months I had reached my first goal of 190 pounds and at that point eating healthy and working out had just become so much a part of my routine that I said…why stop here?! I kept going until I met my ultimate goal of losing 100 pounds which I never even imagined was possible. I’ve said it before and I will say it 100x over to anyone else on the same journey: YOU ARE SO MUCH STRONGER THAN YOU KNOW! I am no one special: I was heavy my whole life and thought I always would be. I couldn’t find my strength until I decided to START but once I started and stayed committed I blew myself away with what I was capable of and you are every bit as capable as well 💕 This saying is available as a tank or tee until Thursday ONLY so orders can be shipped out in time for Christmas. And, offering her advice to anyone looking to start their own weight loss journey, Rebecca said: ‘You are so much stronger than you think: you just have to decide to start and stay committed, no matter how long it takes.

‘There will always be bumps along the way. There were countless weekends where I ate like cr** or drank my body weight in wine, but every Monday was a brand new start to stay committed to my goals.

‘No matter how many times you screw up along the way, you just have to get yourself recommitted week after week, and eventually you will see progress!’
