Peeling a hard-boiled egg can go wrong very quickly: shells under nails, chunks of egg strewn everywhere, your counter looking like some kind of eggy battlefield. But there is an easier — and faster — way to get those pesky shells off.
Here’s how to do it:
Hard boil your eggs as usual.
Once cooked, submerge them in a bowl of cold water or an ice bath, so they don’t continue cooking.
When they’ve cooled down, submerge them in a jar or bowl of room temperature water. Crack the eggs in the jar, under water, and start peeling. The water will get between the egg and the shell, so the shell will slip right off!
Enjoy your beautifully-peeled eggs!
