The research from ESPN and the University of Bath ranked 49 cities at a number of key factors including their sporting community and history, Mirror has reported.
Liverpool is the UK’s Greatest Sporting City for 2017 according to research – after beating competition from Manchester and London.
The city was ranked in the research from ESPN and the University of Bath on a number of key factors including their sporting community and history. In previous years, Liverpool was sixth in 2015 and climbed to fourth last year, before rising again to claim the top spot.
Behind Liverpool, Manchester remains in second and London in third. The 2016 winner was Leicester, after their amazing Premier League win, but they dropped down to 12th this year.
