World-famous rock singer, lead vocalist of System of a Down Serj Tankian is hosting a music competition-challenge.
The participants are required to start their piece of music with the seven notes written by the famous musician and keep the show to under three minutes.
“You got those seven notes you have to start with, so the first seven notes of your composition have to be these seven notes. You can make a jazz song, a rock song, symphony: whatever music you want. It can’t be longer than three minutes. The rest is up to you. I give you seven notes and you give me your best,” Tankian said in a video on Youtube.
“A lot of people ask me where music comes from, where songs come from. I always firmly believe that they come from collective conciousness, they do not necessarily reside within an artist,” Serj Tankian said.
The winner will receive a prize worth $5,000.
The competition is open to all, with applications to be submitted to www.serjtankianchallenge.com.
